A determined team from Britcon has successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, overcoming some of the toughest weather conditions seen this year while raising vital funds for the Britcon Foundation.
Taking on the demanding 24-mile route across Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, the team tackled approximately 1,610 metres of ascent in what is widely regarded as one of the UK’s toughest one-day hiking challenges. Heavy rain, strong winds and challenging underfoot conditions tested participants throughout the day, turning an already difficult challenge into a true test of endurance and resilience.
Despite the relentless weather, the team remained focused and motivated, supporting one another every step of the way. After around 11 hours on the hills, they successfully completed the challenge, with one participant even finding the energy for a final sprint to the finish line in pursuit of a sub-11-hour time!
The challenge was undertaken to raise funds for the Britcon Foundation, tour charitable arm dedicated to supporting organisations that make a meaningful difference within local communities. All funds raised will be shared equally between the Foundation’s four chosen charities: Wakefield Hospice, The Forge Project, Daisy Chain and Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity.
Support for the challenge came from across the business and beyond. Employees, clients, supply chain partners, family members and friends all contributed to the fundraising effort, helping the team surpass its original £4,000 target. Thanks to this incredible generosity, each charity will receive more than £1,000 to support the valuable work they carry out for people and communities in need.
Beyond the fundraising success, the challenge provided a fantastic opportunity for colleagues from across the business to come together and share an unforgettable experience. From the early morning start in Horton-in-Ribblesdale to the final steps across the finish line, the team demonstrated the determination, teamwork and positive attitude that are core to Britcon’s culture.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who donated, supported and encouraged the team throughout the challenge. Your generosity has helped make a real difference to four fantastic charities and demonstrated what can be achieved when people come together behind a shared purpose.
