Britcon was honoured to be invited to speak with Year 10 students from the Stockton area as part of a careers event aimed at those considering further education at Stockton Riverside College. The event provided a valuable opportunity to introduce young people to the wide range of career paths available within the construction industry.
The day was structured around five interactive 20-minute sessions, each designed to help students develop core employment skills and gain insight into the world of work. Britcon representatives shared practical advice on what employers look for, how to prepare for interviews, and how students can align their personal interests and academic strengths with roles in construction.
Discussions covered both academic and vocational routes into the industry, including apprenticeships, technical qualifications and university pathways. Students were encouraged to explore the diversity of roles available—from site management and civil engineering to quantity surveying, health and safety, and sustainability.
