From 30 April to 6 May 2023, Hedgehog Awareness Week took place across the UK, raising awareness of the challenges facing one of Britain’s most beloved native species. Britcon was proud to take part in this important initiative by supporting the Cleveland Hedgehog Preservation Society UK.
As part of the week’s activities, Britcon Project Manager Jason Henderson joined Chris Firth, a representative of the society, to donate two hedgehog houses designed to provide safe shelter and nesting space for hedgehogs in the local area.
The Cleveland Hedgehog Preservation Society was founded in 1992 by a group of passionate volunteers committed to the welfare and protection of hedgehogs. Their mission is to rescue, treat and rehabilitate injured or vulnerable hedgehogs, returning them to their natural habitats once they are fit and healthy.
Jason Henderson commented:
“It’s a privilege to support a local charity doing such vital work. Hedgehogs are an important part of our ecosystem, and it’s great to be able to contribute in a practical way to their protection.”
