Britcon was appointed to deliver a series of cable support structure packages at Cleve Hill Solar Park in Kent, the UK’s largest solar and energy storage project. The development will provide up to 373MW of renewable energy capacity, generating enough clean electricity to power more than 102,000 homes. Working as part of a complex multi contractor environment, Britcon supplied and delivered the structural steelwork required to support key infrastructure across the site

Britcon successfully delivered multiple phases of work, providing the design, fabrication, galvanising and delivery of approximately 300 tonnes of structural steelwork for cable support structures throughout the solar park development.

The works included:

  • Design and build steelwork packages
  • Fabrication of high quality structural steel components
  • Galvanising for long term durability and corrosion protection
  • Delivery and coordination with site installation programmes
  • Associated civil engineering coordination works
  • Ongoing collaboration with principal contractors and specialist delivery teams

All steelwork was manufactured to meet stringent quality standards and project specifications, supporting the extensive infrastructure required across the solar park.

Delivering works within one of the UK’s most significant renewable energy developments presented several challenges. The project required careful coordination with numerous contractors operating simultaneously across a vast site, with critical programme deadlines and strict site specific requirements.
Maintaining progress while accommodating changing site conditions, managing logistics across active construction areas and ensuring uninterrupted access for ongoing operations demanded a flexible and collaborative approach. The project team also had to ensure all steelwork met demanding quality, durability and compliance standards suitable for a long term renewable energy asset.

Britcon successfully delivered multiple cable support structure packages, contributing to the wider development of a nationally significant renewable energy project. The steelwork provides essential support for the extensive electrical infrastructure required across the solar park and has been designed to offer long term performance in a challenging external environment.
Through effective planning, quality fabrication and close collaboration with other project stakeholders, Britcon helped support the successful progression of the UK’s largest solar and energy storage scheme, reinforcing its expertise in delivering complex infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
