NETA’s £14.7m Engineering Training Centre Handed Over

Britcon team handing over the new £14.7m NETA Engineering Training Centre in Thornaby

We have officially handed over the keys for the new £14.7m NETA Training Engineering Centre in Thornaby, marking a significant milestone in the delivery of one of the region’s most important skills and education projects.

Delivered on behalf of NETA Training and the Education Training Collective, the state-of-the-art facility has been designed to support the next generation of engineers, apprentices and skilled tradespeople. Located alongside Stockton Riverside College, the development provides specialist training environments for welding, fabrication, electrical, mechanical, pipefitting, and domestic and commercial gas training.

As principal contractor, Britcon delivered the development using its integrated delivery model, combining the capabilities of both its construction, civil engineering and steel businesses. Throughout the programme, the project team worked closely with all stakeholders, learners and the local community to create not only a high-quality training facility, but a lasting legacy for the Tees Valley. The project has delivered over £9.0m of social value.

Nick Shepherd, Managing Director of Britcon

“Projects like NETA demonstrate the lasting impact construction can have beyond the buildings we deliver. This facility has been created to support future generations of engineering talent and provide employers with access to the skills needed to drive innovation, productivity and economic growth. We are proud to have worked in collaboration with our partners to create a centre that will make a meaningful difference to learners, businesses and the wider region for many years to come.”

This flagship development reflects Britcon’s ongoing commitment to delivering projects that create opportunities, strengthen local economies and leave a positive impact on the communities they serve. The project also reinforces Britcon’s growing presence within the North East region and education sector.
