£13m New Contract Win for Leicestershire County Council
We are pleased to announce that we have won a new contract at the Airfield Business Park in Market Harborough for Leicestershire County Council to design and construct new business units.
The next phase of Airfield Business Park will include the design and construction of ten steel-framed business units and a drive-through restaurant for Costa Coffee. This project is designed to meet a variety of businesses’ needs, these units will also provide existing tenants with opportunities to expand into larger premises. Supporting local businesses as they grow and creating additional jobs in the area.
Sustainability also remains at the core of everything we do, with this phase incorporating modern methods of construction to reduce our environmental impact. The project also includes photovoltaic panels, electric vehicle charging points and the use of low-carbon products. Our team will adopt best-practice construction methods, including PAS 2080 carbon management solutions to mitigate emissions throughout the project.
The development of a substation, car parking, and landscaping is also included within this project, with completion scheduled for winter 2025.
Nick Shepherd, Managing Director for Britcon, said:
“We are thrilled to be working with Leicestershire County Council on this important next phase of the Airfield Business Park. We have developed a methodology to minimise our impact and ensure a safe, clean, and considerate site for all stakeholders. This is another significant investment for the region, and we are proud to support economic growth and job creation with a focus on delivering a positive local impact.”
To mark the beginning of this exciting phase, we recently held a groundbreaking ceremony, attended by representatives from Leicestershire County Council, IMA Architects, Pulse Consult, and the Britcon team.
Councillor Lee Breckon, Cabinet Member for Corporate Resources, shared his thoughts:
“It is fantastic for work to begin on the final phase of this successful business park. Airfield is popular with businesses, and it’s brilliant that we’re able to help thriving companies expand. We’ve been able to keep our local businesses local, boosting both employment and the Leicestershire economy.”
Proof that the project will benefit the local economy is shown by the 67,000 sq. ft unit being built for Bramble Foods, a foods manufacturer and distributor. Since launching in 2008 with a team of just six people, Bramble Foods has grown to employ over 140 local people. This expansion demonstrates how the development further supports thriving businesses, creating jobs, and driving economic growth in the region.
