Britcon is delighted to be supporting our third regional charity. A Way Out is an outreach and prevention charity, which aims to engage, empower, and equip vulnerable and excluded women, families, and young people to live lives free from harm, abuse, and exploitation, and to reduce life-limiting choices and behaviour.

Donna Walker, Fundraising Co-ordinator, said: 'It is really important at A Way Out that we are able to provide support in a calm and inviting space, but this wasn’t the case in a part of our building that is used as both a reception area and meeting space. We really needed practical help and support to create the right environment, as we didn’t have the resources or skills to make this happen ourselves. Luckily for us, once the team at Britcon became aware of the services that A Way Out provides and what we needed to do to make it better, they were more than happy to support us in creating an amazing space. The team went above and beyond, not only supplying all of the paints and equipment, they also took time out of their weekend to come and redecorate the area themselves, creating the light and calming space we had been hoping for.

A follow-up visit a week later from the Managing Director, Nick Shepherd, and Head of HSEQ, Gina Ridsdale, also included a very generous donation of second-hand iPhones and printers, which were gratefully received and will go a long way in helping our team provide the best possible service. The Britcon team is a brilliant example of how knowing the importance of giving back to the local community can have a massive impact on those that need it most.'

Nick Shepherd, Managing Director, said: 'We are delighted to be supporting A Way Out. With most of their funding coming from charitable donations, helping them in the area where we are working felt like the right thing to do. I am so proud of my colleagues for giving up their own time to support a good cause like this. We want to continue to support where we can, adding this charity to the others (Sheffield Hospitals and Lindsey Lodge Charities) we support.'"
