Leicestershire County Council’s highly successful Airfield Business Park has reached another significant milestone with steelworks beginning on site.
The £13m development at Market Harborough is the second phase of the business park and includes ten new business units and two drive-thru restaurants. Our design and construct project has reached the next key milestone with the superstructure works beginning.
To celebrate the milestone, we were delighted to welcome Councillor Lee Breckon and Lucy Littlefair to site, where they had the opportunity to see first-hand the exciting progress being made.
A key highlight of the visit was a steel signing ceremony, a Britcon tradition to celebrate progress, collaboration, and teamwork to date, recognising all stakeholders’ contributions and enabling them to leave their mark on the project by signing steel beams.The inscriptions providing a legacy for future generations.
This project is an important investment that will boost the local economy as well as generate income for the authority. Interest in the development is already strong, with multiple units reserved. Among the businesses set to move in is Costa Coffee, which will be opening a new drive-thru.
Additionally, Bramble Foods, who employ over 150 people locally, and will expand into a brand-new 67,000 sq. ft facility, supporting their continued growth.
Sustainability is a key project driver with modern methods of construction being implemented to deliver sustainable benefits, including photovoltaic panels, electric car charging points, superior insulation, material reuse and low carbon products. The contract also includes a substation. car parking and landscaping.

We have created two new full-time jobs to date and placed over £4m of orders with regional subcontractors to deliver high impact social value outcomes.”
