This 15,000sqm project; a greenfield site adjacent to the A14 included a new build centre with offices, a new build inspection building and parking with in and out road access.

A partly design project, Britcon came on board to carry it through on a D&B basis working together with Holder Mathias Architects.

Requirements included a new build centre with an office on one side of the plot and the other side a new build inspection building.

Centrally included parking with in and out road access. Because the project was so close to the busy A14, we needed to create our own entrance for site staff through the introduction of a temporary slip road off the roundabout agreed with the council. This meant not only were the site team safe to come in and out as required but the public also had full awareness of the work being carried out and site traffic emerging in/out of site.

We understood the clients requirements and because of this, the client was delighted that we provided a better design solution suitable to the DVSA staff on site making the site user friendly and providing a better working environment to the original agreed partial design.

To ensure we met economic regeneration and sustainability requirements we used local recycled aggregate on site and locally sourced sub trades.

The whole project took 24.5 weeks to complete.
