Overview
CRO Ports Killingholme Terminal is a busy operational port and covers 107 hectares of freehold port development. It comprises 6 lock free ro-ro berths, significant rail infrastructure for the handling and storage of vehicles and high and heavy equipment, such as construction and agricultural machinery.
Work undertaken by Britcon was in three separate locations including tank farm, car compound and the new site entrance.
The civil engineering works for all the above areas had to fit in with the normal terminal/berth day to day operations, to prevent any disturbance to operations.
Work included earthworks, removal of existing paving and sub soil, break (re-fractioning) existing material for stabilisation, removal of existing sewerage. In addition, Britcon were required to reconstruct new drainage and
sewerage systems, stabilised foundation, macadam/concrete paving as well as the Installation of lampposts and associated infrastructure and the construction of gates, fencing and retaining walls.
