Works Scope
The works involved the demolition of the existing extension, including the breaking out of an external, concrete hard standing; construction of Pad and Ring beam foundations with perimeter masonry and a 200mm mesh reinforced concrete slab to the building footprint.
A new 1800m2 steel structure extension with perimeter cladding was tied into the existing steelwork and a new gantry crane was installed within the warehouse area. Flexiscreen was installed at opening of the existing warehouse.
A new internal office area was built over two floors, complete with mechanical, electrical & plumbing fit-out. New surface water and foul water drainage was installed to service the extension and externals along with a new concrete hard standing.
Key Project Challenges
- Live office and warehouse buildings.
- High security on site due to the value of goods inside the existing building.
- Live distribution yard.
- Contaminated ground.
How we successfully delivered the project:
Regular daily communication was undertaken with the building occupant and security team. We also held weekly progress and programme meetings.
- Local site team and subcontractors
- Internal and external LED lighting and emergency lighting
- Smartwaste utilised for waste off-site
